These are some of the Frequently Asked Questions we receive around hall bookings:-

Hall dimensions and capacity

Approx 12.5 x 8 metres (40 x 25 ft)
Large stage – depth of 5 metres

Capacity for 120 seated persons

Kitchen equipment

Two electric ovens and four hobs
Microwave oven

Fridge / freezer
Serving hatch to main hall

Food preparation area
Two kettles
Baby burco water boiler
Glassware and a glass washer
Plates, cups, saucers and cutlery to cover over 60 places

How late can the hall be booked?

All events must cease by 11pm to avoid nuisance to neighbours and the hall cleared and vacated by midnight.

Are tables and chairs available?

There are Gopak folding tables, rectangular trestle tables with plastic and fabric chairs that can seat around 100 people. Any tables and chairs used, must be returned and stacked as they were found, especially those located on the stage.

Can the Recreation Ground be booked?

The recreation ground can be booked alongside a hall booking although we cannot guarantee its exclusive use. A Risk Assessment may be required by the Recreation Ground owner, Tring Rural Council, dependent upon how it is being used.

Is the use of a bouncy castle allowed?

Bouncy Castles can be erected in the Recreation Ground with prior agreement at time of booking. The Recreation Ground needs to be booked at the same time as the hall and a Risk Assessment completed by the provider along with a copy of their Public Liability insurance.
Bouncy Castles can also be erected inside the hall with prior greement at time of booking. The Bouncy Castle cannot be taller than 17ft due to the overhead heaters and a copy of the provider’s Public Liability insurance should be provided.

Is alcohol permitted on the premises?

Alcohol can be consumed on the premises if it is being provided at no cost. If you are selling alcohol, you will need to get a Temporary Event Licence (current cost £21) from Dacorum Council. More details can be provided by the Booking Secretary, if required.

Can we hire a band / DJ?

The hirer may hire a band or DJ providing consideration is given to the neighbours in respect of volume and any music stops playing at 11pm.

Are fireworks allowed on the Recreation Ground?

Fireworks are NOT permitted on the Recreation Field at any time.

Does the hall have Internet?

The hall has free Wi-Fi. Please ask the Booking Secretary for details if this is required.

Is there any Audio / Visual equipment in the hall?

The hall has AV equipment and a drop-down projector with an excellent sound system but it requires training before it can be used. It therefore can only be hired with prior agreement and training, for which there is an additional charge and deposit.

Can I view the hall prior to making a booking?

The hall may be viewed prior to making a booking and should be arranged with the Booking Secretary.

How do I get access to the hall?

Once your booking has been confirmed, your confirmation email will provide details on how to collect the hall keys from the key safe.

Are BBQ’s Allowed?

Regretably, as a result of an incident at a booking in April 23, the Village Hall Committee have taken the decision to stop allowing BBQ’s.

Do I need to pay a deposit?

A refundable booking may be requested by the Booking Secretary to cover damages. Please refer to the Hall Payment Policy here.

What payment methods are accepted?

Electronic bank transfers are the preferred method of payment, in advance. Please refer to the Hall Payment Policy here.

Do I need to clean the hall?

Please ensure the is left in the condition you find it in. Cleaning materials such as vacuum cleaner and mop can be found in the cupboards in the room beyond the kitchen. Please bring your own refuse sacks and take them with you when you leave as we cannot dispose of the rubbish ourselves.
You may be charged if the hall is not left clean and tidy with all waste removed.

What happens if I need to cancel my booking?

Are there any bookings which are not accepted?

We will try to accommodate the majority of booking requests, however, we are unlikely to accept booking enquiries for teenage parties.
